A Comparative Study of Several Classical, Discrete Differential and Isogeometric Methods for Solving Poisson's Equation on the Disk

چکیده
This paper outlines and qualitatively compares the implementations of seven different methods for solving Poisson’s equation on the disk. The methods include two classical finite elements, a cotan formula-based discrete differential geometry approach and four isogeometric constructions. The comparison reveals numerical convergence rates and, particularly for isogeometric constructions based on Catmull–Clark elements, the need to carefully choose quadrature formulas. The seven methods include two that are new to isogeometric analysis. Both new methods yield O(h) convergence in the L norm, also when points are included where n 6= 4 pieces meet. One construction is based on a polar, singular parameterization; the other is a G tensor-product construction.

A Survey of Direct Methods for Solving Variational Problems
This study presents a comparative survey of direct methods for solving Variational Problems. Thisproblems can be used to solve various differential equations in physics and chemistry like RateEquation for a chemical reaction. There are procedures that any type of a differential equation isconvertible to a variational problem. Therefore finding the solution of a differential equation isequivalen...
متن کاملComparative study on solving fractional differential equations via shifted Jacobi collocation method
In this paper, operational matrices of Riemann-Liouville fractional integration and Caputo fractional differentiation for shifted Jacobi polynomials are considered. Using the given initial conditions, we transform the fractional differential equation (FDE) into a modified fractional differential equation with zero initial conditions. Next, all the existing functions in modified differential equ...
متن کاملA New Two-stage Iterative Method for Linear Systems and Its Application in Solving Poisson's Equation
In the current study we investigate the two-stage iterative method for solving linear systems. Our new results shows which splitting generates convergence fast in iterative methods. Finally, we solve the Poisson-Block tridiagonal matrix from Poisson's equation which arises in mechanical engineering and theoretical physics. Numerical computations are presented based on a particular linear system...

This paper describes and compares application of wavelet basis and Block-Pulse functions (BPFs) for solving fractional integro-differential equation (FIDE) with a weakly singular kernel. First, a collocation method based on Haar wavelets (HW), Legendre wavelet (LW), Chebyshev wavelets (CHW), second kind Chebyshev wavelets (SKCHW), Cos and Sin wavelets (CASW) and BPFs are presented f...
متن کاملA meshless discrete Galerkin method for solving the universe evolution differential equations based on the moving least squares approximation
In terms of observational data, there are some problems in the standard Big Bang cosmological model. Inflation era, early accelerated phase of the evolution of the universe, can successfully solve these problems. The inflation epoch can be explained by scalar inflaton field. The evolution of this field is presented by a non-linear differential equation. This equation is considered in FLRW model...
